1. Did you know sushi (not sashimi) is meant to be eaten with your fingers? Pick it up with your thumb and your forefinger and put the entire piece into your mouth.

2. Dip the sashimi side (not the rice side) slightly into the soy sauce so the soy sauce is not overpowering. Some sushi such as Unagi (eel) should be eaten without the soy sauce.

3. Eat the Gari (pickled ginger), it is supposed to refresh your palate before putting another sushi into your mouth. Also its germ-killing effect is said to reduce the risk associated with eating raw fish.
