I’ve had my fix of burgers in NYC. So why haven’t I tried JG Melon yet? Well for one thing…it’s a bit far and for New Yorkers who live in Midtown or the Lower East Side, trekking to 74th and 3rd avenue is a bit of a pain. But if you love burgers you will go anywhere to get a good one.
I finally made the journey to go to 74th street and 3rd avenue to try the JG Melon Burger. People have warned me to get there early or avoid the peak hours in order to get a seat. So I went around 1:30 pm on a weekday, which I assumed that the office lunch crowd would have subsided. But I was wrong. There was a bit of a wait but since I went by myself I was able to get a seat quickly at the bar. I was told that the wait staffs at JG Melon were rude and not attentive. But the bartender who served me was very polite and friendly, so off to a good start.
I glanced at the menu and gave the nod and ordered a Cheeseburger with fries and a Bloody Bull drink. What is a bloody bull you say? It’s an interesting concoction of a Bloody Mary mix with beef broth. Sounds disgusting but it was tasty, spicy and refreshing at the same time. A few minutes later my cheeseburger and fries have arrived. First thing I noticed was that it was thick and juicy. I took my first bite and wow the texture of the beef blend was amazing. The thickness of the burger was very deceiving. The burger was fluffy and airy. It was not seasoned heavily but that didn’t matter, the meat texture and taste of the cow alone spoke for itself. I was sad to finish the burger because I did not want it to end. But the best part about this burger was that I wasn’t stuffed or felt bloated it was just the perfect amount. I think everyone has to try this burger.
