Nopi restaurant in London is the newest addition to the Ottolenghi group (www.ottolenghi.co.uk) and let me tell you, it is a gem. With a “sharing is caring” attitude, the restaurant advises you to choose 3 dishes each among the vegetable, fish and meat options. The dishes are small “mezes” and consist of typically Middle Eastern and Asian flavors. We tried the Green lentils with shaved beetroot, radish and berbere croutons; Roasted aubergine, black garlic, harissa and pine nuts; Spiced gurnard wrapped in banana leaf, pineapple and sambal; Baby octopus, skordalia and ras el hanout spcies; Wild sea bass and seared organic prawns with sumac, feta and fennel. The food was delicious and super healthy. The spices were evident and the sizes were enough to share. Ambiance is great and buzzy, but it’s pricey for lunch, we had no wine or dessert but it still came out to be 50 euros each. Service was a bit non-existent but it didn’t bother me too much. If you call to reserve, make sure you book upstairs and be sure to check out the fabulous marble and gold bathrooms!
