Co-Author: The Hungry Giraffe
On one beautiful Mykonos afternoon, the Fat Bulldog and the Hungry Giraffe met for lunch and decided to write this post together! It was a big moment for the tavern because two ‘ladies’ ordered and ate everything the place had to offer!
Kiki’s Tavern is the only tavern at the top of Agios Sostis beach, one of the few unspoiled beaches of Mykonos. There are no umbrellas, no sun beds, no fancy cocktails but the beach and a man who occasionally passes in front of you offering huge warm donuts (yes…I know donuts!?) and icy cold water. It’s so beautiful here where the sea is bright blue and the water temperature is cool which is perfect for swimming. When you are hungry from your swim, all you need to do is run to the top of the hill and find a table at the most amazing little tavern ever!
We just love this place! The view of the ocean, the smell of grilled meat and fish, and the fact that there is absolutely nothing pretentious about this restaurant makes it an ideal destination if you want to relax from the craziness of Mykonos.
First you go in the kitchen and choose which salads you want to have (we chose everything as you will see below), then you have the choice of a huge pork steak, chicken, calamari or fish (which is marinated in a heavenly secret sauce). The side dish is a jacket potato that was topped with big chunks of butter and salt, simple but nice!
After you finish all the food we suggest you get a nice cup of Greek coffee and a brownie which they usually bring anyways, then go for a siesta, which is exactly what we did afterwards!
One last advice from us, don’t make plans for dinner the same night you go to Kiki’s Tavern, because you may still be full from that feast!
Reservations are not possible, open until 18:00 every day
